Pioneer Services to spread nearly $15,000 in holiday cheer this season
Company to hand out commissary gift certificates to military families in need
"While every year is a good one to help military families, it's even more important this year," said Don Heriford, director of retail operations. "The economy is faltering, food and energy costs have gone up, and the credit crunch is affecting millions. Military families deserve so much for the sacrifices they make, and to help them in times like these, even in some small way, is incredibly rewarding."
The gift certificates will be handed out in Pioneer Services offices throughout the country during the holidays, with each office distributing the certificates in different ways. Some may give them out in the office, while other locations will give them to military chaplains and support groups that will then distribute the certificates as they see fit.
"Since each market is a bit different, we wanted to provide flexibility in how they were distributed," said Heriford. "No matter how it's done, the important thing is that military families have a great meal this holiday season. None of them should go without—or even go with less. And Pioneer Services is going to try its hardest to make sure they don't."
