Pioneer Services associate honored as 'Volunteer/Spouse of the Year'

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Aug 02, 2007) Throughout the U.S. Armed Forces there are service members working to defend this country. Similarly, there are networks of dedicated volunteers, many of them military family members, working to support their loved ones' efforts. As a committed Army spouse, Jodi Vickery of Topeka, Kan., was recently recognized for her volunteerism.

Vickery, director of franchise operations for Pioneer Services—a financial services company that exclusively serves the military—was recently named the "Volunteer/Spouse of the Year" for the U.S. Army's Kansas City Recruiting Battalion and also recognized by the 5th Recruiting Brigade for this achievement.

Vickery spends countless hours supporting the initiatives of the battalion and its families. Whether it is coordinating plans for family readiness group training events, assisting with hospitality suites at the annual training conference, or preparing baby baskets for new arrivals in the battalion, she is there to lend a hand.

"I enjoy volunteering and having the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of other military families," said Vickery when asked why she spends her time volunteering. "I have absolute respect for the strength of the amazing spouses who surround me. Any opportunity to support them or our active duty spouses in their mission registers as one of the most important things I can do."

Pioneer Services actively encourages all of its associates to volunteer in their communities. As a unique benefit, paid "volunteer time-off" is available to all employees and ties into the ongoing mission of improving the quality of life for military families. In fact, Pioneer Services was recognized in 2006 for having the "Best Corporate Social Responsibility program" by the American Business Awards.
