KC-based company employs unique tool to help local non-profits during recession
Pioneer Services provides 4,900 hours of paid 'volunteer time-off' to associates
Recognizing the importance of helping nonprofits during these times, a small group of associates has organized a Volunteer Fair so their colleagues can meet organizations in need of volunteers and identify where they might be able to help the most. The response from the local non-profit community has been tremendous, with representatives from more than 20 organizations participating in the event, including Operation Breakthrough, Habitat for Humanity-Kansas City, the Rose Brooks Center, Ronald McDonald House, and the National WWI Museum.
The Volunteer Fair is being held Tuesday, March 3, at Pioneer Services' headquarters, located at 4700 Belleview, Suite 300, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Central Standard Time.
"Giving back to the community is a key component of Pioneer Services' corporate culture," said Karen Von Der Bruegge, chief marketing officer of Pioneer Services. "From Kansas City to our Camp Pendleton office, the VTO program provides associates the opportunity to be fully engaged in their communities, and allows them to determine when and how they want to help based on what interests them the most."
Pioneer Services' VTO program was established in 2005 and provides full-time associates with up to 16 hours of paid volunteer time-off annually, while part-time associates are provided up to eight hours each year. Collectively, Pioneer Services offers more than 4,900 hours of paid community service every year through its VTO program.
