Silver and Bronze Quill Awards recognize Pioneer Services for Community Relations
Save the Flame Campaign recognized locally and regionally by IABC; finalist for Best in Show

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Feb 04, 2010) Pioneer Services' "Save the Flame Campaign," which raised more than $60,000 to keep the eternal flame at the National WWI Museum from being extinguished due to budget cuts, has received a 2009 Silver Quill Award of Merit for Community Relations from the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Southern Region.

The Silver Quill is one of the most prestigious awards in business, focusing on the communications aspect of a company's particular campaign or effort. More than 120 entries from 13 states and Barbados, Trinidad, and Tobago were under consideration for the regional Silver Quill. The judges examining Pioneer Services' entry were impressed with the Save the Flame campaign's fundraising success, as well as the international exposure and media coverage it brought to the National WWI Museum.

The Silver Quill is the second honor the Save the Flame Campaign has received—it was also the winner of a Bronze Quill Award for Community Relations, awarded by the Kansas City chapter of IABC. The campaign was one of three finalists (out of 97 entries) for "Best in Show" in the Kansas City awards ceremony, which was held late 2009.

"After learning that budget cuts threatened the National WWI Museum's eternal flame, our associates immediately jumped on board, developing a fundraising campaign plan and creating a new website, logo, and collaterals by close of business that day," said Karen Von Der Bruegge, chief marketing officer for Pioneer Services. "What was intended to be a community effort turned into a nationwide campaign, exceeding all expectations for fundraising and awareness for the National WWI Museum."
