Local company honored for helping Kansas City's homeless veterans
Dept. of Veterans Affairs and Heart of America Stand Down pay tribute to Pioneer Services
For the past several years, Pioneer Services associates have regularly volunteered at the June and November Stand Down events in Kansas City, distributing clothes, toiletries, and shoes to hundreds of homeless veterans in need. As one of the most consistent and proactive volunteer organizations at the event, the DVA and Stand Down coordinators wished to recognize Pioneer Services and its associates by presenting them with a certificate of appreciation and a plaque.
Event attendees included John Brown, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs-Vet Center Kansas City; Art Fillmore, co-founder, the Heart of America Stand Down; and more than 100 associates and executives from Pioneer Services.
The next HOA Stand Down event is scheduled for Friday, November 13, 2009 in Kansas City, Kansas. More than 25 Pioneer Services associates have already signed up to volunteer once again.
