Pioneer Services helps community and military families this holiday season
Nationally, Pioneer Services offices around the country are helping more than 300 military families by providing them gift certificates to purchase holiday food or other needs at local commissaries. The gift certificates were distributed in various ways, with some locations giving them out in the office, and others handing them to military leadership and support groups that distributed them as needs arose.
At its headquarters, Pioneer Services participated in an Angel Tree effort, adopting 20 children that weren't adopted in the Salvation Army's Adopt-a-Family Program. Multiple gift items were purchased for all of the children, and a number of associates also took time off to wrap and distribute gifts to parents at the Angel Tree offices. The company is also collecting food for Harvesters Community Food Network, with departments and offices competing to see who can collect the most goods for families this season. The competition led to a total of more than 1,100 pounds of food being collected -- enough for nearly 900 meals.
The Las Vegas office partnered with the Nellis Air Force Base (AFB) "Adopt-A-Family" program to help military families experiencing difficulty in the down economy. Pioneer Services' associates selected six military families, buying and wrapping everything from toys, to clothing, to games for service members and their children. Other Pioneer Services' offices around the country also partnered with local groups and charities in their communities to help the less fortunate during the holiday season.
In addition, the company made a significant donation to The Snowball Express this year. Started in 2006 to remind the children of our fallen military heroes that they are not alone, nor forgotten, the Snowball Express gives them a holiday experience of a lifetime. Pioneer Services' contribution helped some of the 2,000 family members make it to Dallas, site of this year's event. Nearly 400 of these family members will be spending their first holidays without their loved one, and giving to this cause is just one more thing Pioneer Services can do to thank them for their sacrifice.
With more than 20 of its own associates deployed in the military, or having a loved one deployed, Pioneer Services also took the time to send these associates a special ornament on behalf of the company this year. Featuring the seal of the loved one's branch of service on one side, and their name and rank on the other, the ornament is a special reminder not only of the family member overseas, but also that there is an entire company there to support them.
"These holiday activities, and numerous others, reflect the commitment of our associates and speak to our corporate culture," said Karen Von Der Bruegge, chief marketing officer for Pioneer Services. "Throughout the year, Pioneer Services' associates help out in their communities. The holiday season provides an opportunity for them to do even more, and as usual, our associates have exceeded all expectations for gifts and monies collected for those most in need.”
In addition, Pioneer Services also developed a free online holiday spending planner to help military families and others manage their budgets during these tough economic times.
