Pioneer Services' Laura Stack honoree for Business Journal 'CFO of the Year'
The CFO of the Year award is given to a financial professional for outstanding performance in his or her role as a corporate financial steward. Finalists will be introduced, and winners announced, at an awards program June 12, 2009, in Overland Park, Kan. Finalists and winners will also be featured in a Kansas City Business Journal supplement June 19, 2009.
In 2008, Stack successfully led Pioneer Services' transition from a privately-held finance company into the heavily-regulated banking industry. She helped negotiate and secure a consistent credit facility in an increasingly tight credit market while also guiding the company's finances, and did so in the face of numerous regulatory and economic challenges.
"Laura did an amazing job of handling the switch from a small, family-owned company, despite a down economy and a myriad of other transitional issues," said Tom Holcom, president of Pioneer Services. "Just as important, she is a tremendous leader, navigating her team through the complexities of SOX compliance, SEC filings, and transitioning to a Big 4 firm for audit, tax, and fair value accounting."
Laura has more than 20 years finance experience, working in the financial services, leasing and media sectors. A graduate of Kansas State University, she is a member of several professional and military organizations, including the Central Exchange and Financial Executives International, and the Association of the United States Army.
