Awards & Recognition

As a leader in the military lending market for more than 20 years, Pioneer Services has been honored to receive a number of national awards for its commitment to military families and to the communities it serves. This recognition is especially meaningful because service to the military community is the company’s primary mission. Here’s a summary of the most significant awards:

National Awards

>> 'Award of Merit' for WestWord employee magazine – The Kansas City chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators (KC/IABC) presented Pioneer Services with an "Award of Merit" for its WestWord employee magazine at the Bronze Quill gala event May 9, 2008.

>> One of the top 25 'Best Companies to Work For in America' - Pioneer Services was recognized for the second time in three years as one of the top 25 "Best Medium-Sized Companies to Work for in America." The award was presented June 2006 at the Society for Human Resource Management's Annual Conference & Expo in Washington, D.C.

>> American Business Awards - Pioneer Services is honored to have received a Stevie Award for "Best Corporate Social Responsibility Program." Called "the business world's own Oscars" by The New York Post, the awards are named after the Greek word for "crowned" and are one of the most coveted in the business community.

>> Freedom Award - Pioneer Services was one of 15 companies nationwide honored with the Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award in 2005 for its support of associates serving in the National Guard and Reserves.

>> A 'Top Military Friendly Employer' - Pioneer Services was named a top "military friendly employer" in the 2005 Veteran's Day edition of G.I. Jobs magazine.

>> Conspicuous Service Medal - Pioneer Services received recognition from Missouri Governor Matt Blunt's office for its "patriotic support, loyalty, and devotion" to its associates who serve in the National Guard and Reserve, receiving the "Conspicuous Service Medal" in 2005.

Local Awards

>> 'Small Business of the Year Award' in Hampton Roads - The Pioneer Services office serving the Norfolk, Va., area was recently recognized by the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce as one of the "Rising Five" small businesses in their annual "Small Business of the Year Awards."

>> Fort Carson's 'Excellence in Customer Service Awards' - Pioneer Services was honored by the Better Business Bureau (BBB) of Southern Colorado with the "Excellence in Customer SErvice Award" (EICS).

>> Fort Riley's 'Helping Hand Award' - The Pioneer Services office serving Fort Riley, Kan., was recently named a recipient of the "Helping Hand Award" for the work it has done for the Soldiers and families of the local military community.

>> Better Business Bureau Ethics Award - Two of our offices (the Hephzibah, Ga., office serving Fort Gordon and the Evans Mills, N.Y., office serving Fort Drum) were named Better Business Bureau Torch Award winners for the company's high ethical standards.

>> Business of the Year - The Chamber of Commerce for the city of Oceanside, California, named the local Pioneer Services office as the Business of the Year for 2003 - 2004. The award is given to companies that show outstanding support and community relationships.

Individual Awards

>> Pioneer Services associate honored as 'Volunteer/Spouse of the Year' - Vickery, director of franchise operations for Pioneer Services, was recently named 'Volunteer/Spouse of the Year' by both the 5th Recruiting Brigade and the U.S. Army's Kansas City Recruiting Battalion.

>> Entrepreneur of the Year - Pioneer Services President Tom Holcom was named winner of Ernst and Young's 2006 "Entrepreneur of the Year for Social Responsibility" award in the Central Midwest region.

>> Dr. Mary Walker Award - Pioneer Services associate Pam Swan received the Dr. Mary Walker Award during a ceremony at Fort Sil, Oklal, in December 2005. The award recognizes military spouses in 1996 as a way to thank them for their support and sacrifice.

>> 40 Under 40 - Joe Freeman, chief strategy officer and chief lending officer for Pioneer Services, was named on of Kansas City's 40 Under 40 Class of 2006 by Ingram's Magazine.
